Spring is finally upon us and Summer is just around the corner and to get into the spirit of things, I have started creating more colourful pieces to wear in these upcoming months.
I would like to take this opportunity to share an inspiring quote with you...
"Every woman is creative, and a wonderful place to start acknowledging your inner artist is in your wardrobe." - Amanda Ford
So why not bring some unique, creative and colourful accessories into your life.
You have NO excuse not to wear a bold orange necklace this instant!
Accessorising your warbrobe
For every fashionista, a wardrobe full of outfits is a given, but in these hard economic times it's hard to justify the excessive spenditure. So why not bring out the old, and accessorise!
Here are some helpful tips in deciding what to wear, how to wear it and with what:
- When choosing a piece of jewellery, the colours do not need to match, they just need to compliment the outfit.
- Don't be afraid of attracting attention with your accessories.
- Try pairing your jeans and plain tee with a more formal piece that includes things like Swarovski crystals or pearls.
- If you have long hair, don't be shy! Wearing a pair of oversized earrings is a must.
- Wear a longer necklace to accentuate your height and appear taller.
- Compliment that colourful skirt with matching beaded bracelets in a variety of shapes and colours for a flirty, boho look.
- Wearing a solid colored shirt or dress with a rounded neckline? Pair it with necklace that hangs in a V-shape: it makes the neckline appear narrow.
- When wearing prints try and stay clear from big, bold and colourful pieces of jewellery. Instead, opt for some sleek and subtle pieces such as a pair of elegant dangle earrings.
- Try layering both gold and silver necklaces for a fashion-forward look. The old rule of not mixing metals is out: sometimes rules were made to be broken!
Before leaving your house for that party or even dinner with friends, be sure to check your outfit in a full length mirror. If in doubt of over accessorising, do what Coco Chanel used to do and remove one piece (jewellery, hat, scarf etc) and the outfit will be perfect.
And Remember...
A little can go a long way: try and use one focal piece (a statement pair of earrings or necklace) and you are sure to impress! |
